Google Appoints Ragini Das as Head of Google for Startups India in 2025

Ragini Das

New Delhi, October 2025 – Google has announced the appointment of Ragini Das as the new Head of Google for Startups in India, marking a major milestone in her career journey.

Das shared the news on LinkedIn, calling it a “full-circle moment.” She revealed that she first interviewed with Google back in 2013 but did not make it past the final round. Instead, she went on to join Zomato, where she spent six years leading sales, growth, and international expansion projects, including building the global success of Zomato Gold.

Over the years, Das has held leadership roles at Trident Group India and also interned with Standard Chartered Bank and Aludecor. In 2020, she co-founded Leap.club, a professional networking platform designed to support women leaders. The venture, which she described as her purpose-driven project, impacted thousands of women before pausing operations earlier this year.

In her new role at Google, Das will spearhead startup-focused initiatives in India, connecting early-stage founders with resources, mentorship, and global networks to help scale their businesses. Google for Startups, which runs accelerators and programmes worldwide, aims to nurture thriving entrepreneurial ecosystems, and Das’s appointment is seen as a step forward in strengthening support for India’s growing startup community.

Das holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with First Class Honours from Lancaster University. Beyond her professional roles, she also serves as Chair of the Women in Startups Committee at FICCI, advocating for increased visibility and access to funding for women-led ventures.

Reflecting on her journey, Das credited Zomato for shaping her career foundation and resilience, which ultimately led her to co-found Leap.club and now return to Google in a leadership role. “From being rejected at Google in 2013 to leading Google for Startups in India in 2025, it truly feels like life has come full circle,” she wrote.

With her appointment, Google reinforces its mission to empower founders in high-growth markets, and Das is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing India’s vibrant startup ecosystem.
